I call Brighter Sides a “life & style” blog – breaking it down feels much more accurate to me than the more traditional term, “lifestyle” blog. It was first conceived because I found that a lot of my salon clients ask for the same information over and over and it was so hard to find an interesting and informative hair-related blog or website out there. I started out just posting about hair, but now I also write about personal style, makeup, life/travel/tiny living, and other things I love. Sometimes I also share blogging tips, and freebies!
After working as a self-employed professional hairstylist for nearly 10 years, I decided to retire from that, as it was wreaking havoc on my back and neck, and I was becoming increasingly allergic to bleach and hair color. While I don’t work “behind the chair” any more, I still love to share my years of expertise with you on Brighter Sides. I’ve also worked here and there as a Social Media Manager/Social Media Consultant for several small businesses, and co-owned an awesome store in Oklahoma City called The Salvage Room, selling vintage wares and oddities. Now, back in Seattle (which I consider my home, sweet home, despite growing up in the woods in Northern California) in addition to blogging here on Brighter Sides, I also sell vintage jewelry on Etsy, as well as my paintings and digital designs.
I like spending time by myself and while I’m a homebody and like to be cozy indoors, in front of my computer, my favorite place to be (besides bed) is on a quiet beach. My dream is to someday own a tiny house near the ocean and spend most of my time traveling. Oh, I also have a really cute Pomeranian named Bruno. You’ll see lots of him on my Instagram with the hashtag #BrunoBSides!
If you’re a bit of the quiet type, like me, I hope you’ll stay for a while and enjoy the blog, or see what I’ve been up to on Pinterest. Or if you’re an extrovert, come say hello on Twitter or Facebook!
