I realize I haven’t been very active on the internet lately. This past month or so has been incredibly hard and sad for me for a small handful of personal reasons that I don’t want to go into here. It’s left me not feeling like I have much to talk about since I don’t want my blog to be a place just to complain about my life. And I’m not sure that I could properly put in to words how I’ve been feeling if I tried.
But something good did come out of this month as well – something really good. And I want to share that with you.
As you may know if you’ve been a reader for a while, I sell vintage clothing, accessories, housewares and the like part time. It’s mostly been online, but I’ve done a few pop-up sales since moving to Oklahoma City too. I’ve long been dreaming of opening a real store to house all of my pretty things, and I’m finally doing it!

Three of my good friends and I made a plan to go in to business together a little while together, and we’ve been working on getting a space that we think will be really amazing. As of last Monday, we found out that we got it! We officially sign the lease on Monday and can start painting and fixing it up then. The place is pretty small so we’re shooting to have our Grand Opening the second Friday of February, and if time allows, we’ll have a soft opening before that.
If you live near Oklahoma City, or you’re just interested to see what I’m up to in the shop, be sure to like our Facebook page, and follow us on Twitter and Instagram. I’ll undoubtedly have updates here from time to time as well, but there will be a lot more activity in those places as well.
Hopefully I’ll get out of this funk soon and will feel ready to start blogging regularly again. That said, if there is anyone that would like to submit a guest post, I’m open to having a few of those to keep Brighter Sides active until I feel emotionally ready to get back in to the swing of things. I’m looking for well written posts with large, high-quality photos, preferably in the categories that I already post in (style, hair/makeup, how-to, food, etc.) but I’m open to other ideas as well. If you’re interested, email me at kelsibsides at gmail dot com and we’ll chat.
I’m still very active on my personal Instagram account, and I’ve been trying to use Twitter more too, so if you want to stay connected to me through this, those are good routes to go :)
Thanks for your patience and support. And if you live in OKC, I hope to see you at The Salvage Room next month!

What exciting news!! Congratulations! I’ll shoot you an email re: guest posting :)

That’s so exciting, congratulations!! I hope it’s a huge success! :D
And I hope whatever bad stuff is going on works itself out soon!
Thanks Kate! As for the bad stuff, it’s just one of those “time heals all wounds” situations I think. It’s just going to take a while for my heart to heal. But I am very excited about the store!
that is so awesome. happy for you!
I’m a new reader. I found you on the BBN.
(:
I’m so glad to have you as a new reader!
I’m so sorry stuff hasn’t been going well for you lately, it can be really tough trying to blog when you aren’t feeling great Trust me, I know, my blog has been pretty depressing over the past few days. That is amazing news about opening your own shop though, so exciting! Wishing you all lots of luck xo
Thank you for your sweet comment. I am heading over to check out your blog right now ;)
