In May I went to visit my mom in California and I posted some photos of her kitties, as well as the Forestiere Underground Gardens. I said that I’d put my pics from our trip to the zoo in a separate post since there were so many. It took me a while, but here they are! I’ll put most of them behind a cut, so be sure to click the “read the rest” link if you’re on my main page and you want to see them all :)
Look! I got to feed a giraffe! Best experience ever!!!!!
That tiny little guy being fed by the zookeeper is called a Blue Duiker. It was probably my favorite thing at the zoo. It’s the smallest breed of antelope in the world, that little guy is full grown! They are really skittish and fast. The alpha male tortoise that is in with the Blue Duiker is really mean apparently. In the second picture you can see him (slowly) coming up to bite the zookeeper because she was in his territory.
Even though it was the beginning of May, the temperature was already in the mid 90’s. All of the animals seemed really hot, but especially the poor farm animals in the petting zoo section. I really liked petting all of the goats and the llama. Llamas have the prettiest eyelashes! And they all really wanted to be pet which makes it even more fun.
The last picture of the flamingos is of one of them getting all upset and trying to fight over food. They aren’t very intimidating, haha.
Anyway, there are my zoo photos. It was a fun trip :)
